  1. Brand Identity design: this involves everything concerning giving a brand a visual identity, including logo design, business card design, setting the brand colors, patterns, fonts, style guide, and so on. Knowledge of skills such as marketing, digital marketing, and brand strategy is important to get really good at this. 

  2. Logo design: I had to set this aside as a category on its own because most people confuse logo design with branding, which is wrong. Branding involves so much more. You can decide to specialize as a logo designer if you want to, and you can offer it specifically as a service to clients as well. A logo is a design or symbol that a brand uses to represent itself.  Think of it as the face of a brand. 

  3. Publication design: This involves creating designs for books, book covers, magazines, and so on. 

  4. Packaging design: creating designs for the physical products of a brand like soap boxes, drink bottles, sachet designs, and so on.

  5. Web design: is the visual aspect of websites, including the interface, color scheme, icons, and fonts put together by a graphic designer. Knowledge of programming isn’t necessary, but it's important and recommended if you choose to.

  6. UX/UI design: UX stands for User experience, while UI means User interface. Web design is an example of this. They are in high demand these days, too. 

  7. Poster/ flyer, and banner designs: This one, along with logo design, I know many people are already very familiar with, we see them both online, and in the world around us every day. It is a really useful skill to have, you might even need to create your own one day to advertise your business.

  8. Infographics: Used to explain things with graphics to support the texts and make them easier to understand. 

  9. Motion Graphics: Animation is simply the art of making things move; in graphic design, that is what this is all about making your designs move. Logos, texts, and even posters can all be animated and made even more exciting and easier to understand. This is mostly done with Adobe After Effects and on mobile, I know of Alight Motion, which is a good app for this as well.

  10. Art and Illustration design: These are very popular now as well, they involve creating and using artistic illustrations in graphic design.
